Annointing of the Sick at St. James Catholic Church

St. James Catholic Church celebrated a specially scheduled 10:30 a.m. Mass on Saturday, March 13th. During the Mass, the Sacrament of the Sick was administered to some 33 persons who were accompanied by their caregivers or family members. Also in the photo are Deacon Ed Boyer, guest Deacon, who assisted in the Annointing Mass, Della Mae Sampson and Ruth Jarvis at far right. Until 1965, and the renewal of the sacramental rites, this was called by the Latin term "extreme unction" or the "last rites." A special luncheon was held after Mass for those receiving the Sacrament of the Sick.
