Newly installed officers of the Ladies Sodality at St. James Church, Potosi, were installed at a Vespers Evening Prayer Service on June 2'nd. The word "sodality" comes from the French word, "sodalite" meaning an association or a religious fraternity. The officers are from left, Mary Woodland, secretary; Nancee Schamel, treasurer; Fr. Joe Welschmeyer , pastor; Glenda Farrow, president; and Kim Coleman, vice-president. The ladies sodality is a women's group which attends to the needs of the liturgical linens, sanctuary items, and altar servers albs, of a Catholic parish church. While the sodality has many responsibilities, they fund their projects with the Lenten Fish Frys. These popular "Fish Frys" are held on the Fridays of the Lenten Season before Easter. The ladies also have charge of the parish hall kitchen and the funeral luncheons and other meals which are provided there.
