PARISH COUNCIL MEETING— May 11, 2010

The following topics were discussed during the Parish Council meeting...

1.     The bid on the handicapped parking in front of the church were discussed. Short’s Concrete and Construction of Potosi was given the bid. Work was completed by May 31st.

2.     The matter of the missals and missalettes was discussed. The matter is on hold until the new Roman Missal translations are released.

3.     The parish is interested in purchasing the property of the Casey building across from the parish school.

4.     The 13 Catholic graduates from high school, of St James Parish are being invited to a special youth Mass and pizza in late June.

5.     A parish breakfast is being planned in honor of the parish patronal feast day, St. James the Apostle, Sunday July 25th.

6.     Two high school youths have been hired to work 2 days per week, on the parish campus, including the cemeteries. A university student works full time with lawn mowing, etc. and where needed.

7.     The Parish School of Religion gave a report on the completion of a very successful religious education term. 87 students completed the PSR term.

8.     The proof pages of the parish photo directory have been mailed to the Life Touch Company in Galion, Ohio. When the parish photo directories are delivered to the parish, they will be distributed to each household which had their photo taken. This will be done after weekend Masses. These photo directories may also be picked up at the rectory office during business hours.

9.     The council declined a request from the Moses Austin Heritage Festival to provide the sale of beer on behalf of the heritage festival committee, on our parish property. The request is made yearly, and the council declines due to several reasons, including archdiocesan regulations regarding the sale, use and consumption of alcohol on parish properties.
